This week we were learning about Content Management Systems in MLIS 7510. Our assignment included building a website using the Demo model of Joomla. I am very grateful that Dr. Yang tipped us off from the beginning that Joomla is not very user friendly, or I think I would have felt like more of an idiot through this process than I already do anyway. Joomla's navigation and publishing process seemed to be cumbersome and inefficient for me.

The Menu Items I created were News& Events, Blog, and Fun Stuff. Under the blog I created categories of About, Products, and again News & Events. Even though I watched a ton of tutorial videos this process was still largely trial and error for me. Changing and publishing one thing at a time to see what it would actually change on the website.

I inserted a picture on the About section of the Blog and messed around with all the font types before changing most of them back because the default settings looked best to me.

After a while I will say I even had a little bit of fun with the trial and error process. My husband, who is an IT man, sat down by me in towards the end of my struggles and inquired as to why we are using Joomla instead of something much more user friendly like WordPress. I am sure that was mentioned somewhere along the way, but I can't seem to find where.
